The lyrics explore the limits of faith and family, life and loss, strength and pride. Between thundering riffs and plaintive moments of acoustics, the music explores new territories on the landscape of epic doom and heavy metal. Still, one message echoes as Crypt Sermon march onward, “We’re doomed.”

If progression and technical nuance is what you seek, steer clear, for this is a sub-30-minute slab of pure butchery that is not for the self-proclaimed audio genius (read: pretentious), this is violent, visceral and somehow stinks of rotting meat. With a production that allows seeping guitar wounds in the thick, tarry bass lines while retaining the snappy drums and not allowing the bellowed vocals to overshadow anything, this is a dense and swampy cut of morbid Death Metal that will puke itself forth into your ears, defiling and degrading all it comes into contact with. If you can withstand the putrefied sonic fruits bared by Fleshrot, then commend your stomach and ears’ strength because most will falter before the mighty and malicious blows landed by their debut LP “Unburied Corpse” in all of its lurking, squelching and squalid splendour.

Truly titled, Putrescence is a vast landscape of rot and dread. COPROLITH illustrate this landscape with a bounty of the very best sounds of the very early ’90s: DEATH METAL, tried and true, but stirring within their cauldron is the tank-like bludgeon of ​Grave, the monolith pulse of Demigod, and the sepulchral tendrils of ​Incantation. That the Canadians splice & sluice those ingredients to their diabolical design shows both a lifer’s understanding of these foundational sounds and, more so, a will to honor this tradition ​with fiercely focused personality – keenly knowing what’s ​between the slimy exoskeleton and its rotten underbelly, so to speak. And the fact that all but one of the ​album’s six tracks stretch well beyond the five-minute mark shows that there’s charred, ​challenging vistas being explored along the way…

Despite its title, Atavistic Unraveling shows ASTRIFEROUS at their tightest and sharpest, with chops and execution meeting at a nexus of impossibly horrific proportions. Duly armed, the quartet take their songwriting to strange, skronking lengths, rendering their angularity both an unsettling and utterly attacking thing. Likewise, the slight cleaning-up of production has paid dividends, allowing these malformed ruminations to fully seep into the listener’s psyche – mangling the mind, wracking the body – whilst emerging with just enough linear propulsion to land the record on the right side of art rather than riff salad.

Collectively, these changes have made ASTRIFEROUS even more world-eating than before, further cementing their homeland’s death metal scene as one of the most potent around. Atavistic Unraveling awaits those who dare…

The Crypt and Dark Descent Records are proud to announce a pact with one of New York’s finest, Morpheus Descends. Formed in 1990 under the Morpheus moniker, Morpheus Descends was well known for its vicious death metal attack. Most of the band’s back catalog is highly priced and very difficult to find, so it is with our pleasure that we are able to bring this material to the darkness once more! All audio for these releases was transferred from the original analog masters for optimal sound.

The Debut album from MORPHEUS DESCENDS. This long overdue release will be presented in a sturdy 350 gram jacket featuring the original artwork and layout complete with with lyrics and liner notes.The cover artwork for “Ritual of Infinity” was painted by noted underground and surrealist Brad Moore who went on to do hundreds of horror comic books, museum designs, tile murals, film and commercial work, an exhibit with master H.R.Giger.
